Battlefield 2042 India Map: New Details Revealed

[ad_1]

EA has revealed some interesting new details on its new map called Discarded in Battlefield 2042, which is based on Alang, a town in the Bhavnagar district in Gujarat. While developer Dice has spoken publicly about its inspirations for the map, we now know more about how the map differs from others in the game.

Battlefield 2042 Discarded Map New Details

The Discarded map takes place along a shoreline where massive ships are stranded due to changing water levels. The middle portion of the map contains the Colossus, which is a massive ship hiding a stealth submarine inside it. Dice revealed that the Colossus has multiple levels and capture locations, including zipline access to the different floors both from the inside and from the outside.

Continuing along the shoreline, players will find additional ships that are stranded along with a large docking area. The map also includes a flooded village and a fuel station. The map will see factions fight to secure rogue nuclear assets. Dice also revealed that verticality is a big aspect of the map, which will help players in traversing Discarded.

How Battlefield 2042’s India Setting Comes to Life

IGN India previously reached out to Dice after the map’s reveal to know more about the developer’s thought process behind including the new map. Lead level designer Shashank Uchil told us that the developer had been looking to create a map based on India for a long time.

“Both the art and design team spent a considerable amount of time researching how ships are broken at Alang and how the town around it is built,” he said.

“We spent a lot of time looking at videos and satellite images from all around Alang. One example would be the side of the ship being torn apart, which you can find in the Reveal Trailer at 0:55.”

Battlefield 2042 will release on October 22 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The game recently received a price cut in India on Steam, with the base game now priced at Rs. 2,999 (down from its previous listing at Rs. 3,499).
