Specialist games retailer Games The Shop will be selling Nintendo and PlayStation merchandise. IGN India spotted listings on its website for PlayStation-branded mugs, glasses, lights, and playing cards to name a few in addition to Nintendo-themed merchandise as well. All of these are official, genuine merchandise the company tells us. You can pre-order them now for delivery from September 9 via the Games The Shop website.
PlayStation and Nintendo Official Merchandise India Price List
This wouldn’t be the first time game-related merchandise has made it to India officially, erstwhile Games The Shop competitor Game4u did it back in 2009 (disclosure: this author was employed at Game4u at the time) with an assortment of licensed figures.
Nonetheless, this is a welcome development all the same. Particularly since what’s on offer is relatively affordable compared to how much you’d be paying if you were to buy them via the grey market or through a parallel import.
For the unbeknownst, Games The Shop is a Mumbai-based retailer. Think of it as India’s answer to GameStop, minus the stock market memes. It is a privately-held business whose parent company is E-xpress. Incidentally, E-xpress is also India’s largest distributor of games. Outside of Sony’s first-party PlayStation games, Microsoft’s first-party Xbox games, and Activision, the chances are that, if you bought a video game in India, E-xpress is responsible for bringing it into the country.
